Prestigious residential neighborhoods in Turkey

By Justin Mays:

Kartal and Maltepe are some of the newest desirable neighborhoods on the Asian side, along Istanbul’s northeastern Marmara Seashores. These areas house some of the best new facilities you can find in Istanbul. Prestigious new residential projects with sea and Princes Islands views and attractive architecture make this peaceful area a wonderful place to put down roots.

Kartal is located between Maltepe and Pendik. The coastal area is more densely populated but there are lovely countryside areas inland buffered by Yakacik and Aydos hills. The area has gone through a period of regeneration. It was formally a major industrial zone, but the factories have long since shuttered and moved inland allowing the area to thrive. Maltepe is to the west. Its 7-kilometer coastline is also popular with restaurants, a promenade for strolling, and recreational areas. Inland, there is more of a village ambiance with winding roads and quaint old homes.

Maltepe and Kartal lie on the eastern outskirts of Istanbul. They are well linked to other areas of the city like Kadikoy and Atesehir by metro, Marmaray, buses, and minibuses, with a fast ferry to Bostanci and frequent ferries to the islands. The international airport, Sabiha Gocken offers flights all over the country and abroad. The nearby E-5 highway eases access to points in and out of the city. Both areas have populations of over half a million.

Many brand-new family-friendly, fully serviced projects built with high-quality materials offer recreational facilities, shops, and cafes and top security are available for purchase. For remote workers, there is no need to leave these fully serviced types of complexes with high levels of comfort. With the large population, many professionals have set up residence in the area and central business districts have been established. Well-known private schools and universities have been established in the area to service people who settle there like Maltepe University and Marmara University at Dragos.  Plans for urban development include building cultural centers, concert halls, museums, hotels, and a brand-new marina to service the high standards of residents moving into luxury builds.

For those seeking modern accommodation with seaside proximity, these are the neighborhoods for you.
