old apartments for sale in Istanbul

Sandwiched between expat heavy Galata, Galatasaray and Cukurcuma, Tomtom and Tophane are developing neighborhoods that are going through a period of rapid revitalization. It is an area where you can find affordable old apartments for sale in Istanbul or modern projects. The former Genoese and Levantine inhabitants influenced the neighborhood aesthetics and many stunning historical buildings, like consulates and monasteries, remain next to newer residential blocks.  This more traditional region is steps away from transportation options like the tram, ferry or metro and known for its burgeoning design district status with many local creative entrepreneurs opening boutiques up and down the main street, Bogazkesen. Mixed in with these retail shops are small groceries, fruit and vegetable stands and butchers along with affordable services like electricians, cobbler and tailors all outside your door. You'll even find one of the city’s top restaurants, Nicole, with incredible views over the old city right in Tomtom itself. Restaurants bars and larger shops are walking distance away in Cihangir and Taksim. On weekends you can browse in art galleries and shops and enjoy the local atmosphere including the regularly held Design Festival. The seaside, park space and Galata port Project are minutes away by foot with easy links to the old city.

Renovations of area landmark buildings like the stunning Yazidjizade are helping this neighborhood return to its heyday of being a prestigious area in which to live. A pioneer in the neighborhood is the real estate development TomTom Gardens project located across from an Italian consulate and new construction by the same developers is being built now. In a secure location centered around a garden this historical building has been renovated with all the modern conveniences you could want. A newer development Hacimimi is following in its footsteps. Tomtom and Tophane comprise an area where you can experience modern living while respecting the neighborhood’s historical roots.
